Before the date

Good habits start before you even meet.

  • Choose services that verify their members’ identity.
  • Keep your contact details to yourself until you have met.
  • Pick a busy public place, ideally one you already know.
  • Tell someone close to you: where, when and with whom.

On the day

Stay independent: it is the best safety measure there is.

  • Arrange your own journey there and back.
  • Keep your phone charged and within reach.
  • Keep an eye on your drink and order it yourself.
  • Trust your instincts: you can leave at any time, without explaining yourself.

Afterwards

Send a message to your friend or relative once you are home. If anything made you uncomfortable, report it: it protects others too.

  • Don’t share your home address too soon.
  • Report any inappropriate behaviour to the dating service.

What Aparté does for you

Every profile is verified, suggested venues are public, no contact details can be exchanged before the date, and the date ticket includes a “Let someone know” button and an alert button linked to 112.

In immediate danger, call 112, the emergency number that works across Europe. In France, 3919 is the national helpline for anyone affected by violence: free, anonymous and available 24/7.
